Circular textiles - Can tech scale and consumer behaviour change fast enough

Circular textiles - Can tech scale and consumer behaviour change fast enough

"I think there needs to be legal requirements around this. The EU is doing some things, it’s not fast, but it is going in the right direction regarding making the rules and regulations apply to everyone." - Carys Egan-Wyer PhD

Yesterday I took part in a live-streamed conversation about circular textiles organised by Lund University School of Economics and Management. I talked with Ellen Lindblad, textile expert at Sysav, about why a machine that could potentially recycle all of Sweden’s waste textiles into new reusable fabric is currently NOT being used! We also discussed whether consumer preferences and behaviour can increase the demand for recycled textiles or whether we need to stop relying on individual consumers to change the world.

If you missed the livestream, you can watch the conversation on LUSEM’s YouTube page.
